Bringing the
Homer Hedge Meme to Life for Disney+

We turned one of The Simpsons’ most recognisable memes into a fully automated guest experience.

Created for Disney+, the activation placed guests inside the iconic Homer hedge meme, turning a single green-screen portrait into a finished animated video in seconds.

The installation launched on London’s Southbank before touring to Manchester, drawing queues at both locations.

Rebuilding an Iconic Piece of IP

What looks like a simple animation was technically much more complex.

We were entrusted to work directly with The Simpsons IP, recreating the movement, timing, framing and visual treatment of the original meme closely enough to feel authentic to the source.

Rather than producing a loose interpretation, we built the animation around the original sequence itself, with every stage carefully tuned to preserve the character of the reference.

From Green Screen to Finished Meme

Guests stepped into the booth, posed once and captured their image.

Our system automatically removed the green-screen background, isolated the guest, composited them into the scene and animated them backing into the hedge frame by frame.

There was no operator input and no post-production. Every output was generated automatically, on site, within seconds.

Once processed, the finished video appeared on the sharing screen.

Guests could add their own meme caption before sending the final asset directly to their phone, formatted and ready to post.

The result was a simple guest journey powered by a technically complex, fully unmanned capture and animation system.
